Reflections and intentions

A good year gone and great one hopefully to come.

#nurture1415

Having now read several #nurture1415 posts I feel ready to reflect myself. My over riding impression of 2014 is most definitely a positive one but here are my five highlights of 2014:

1. 2013 was a turbulent year for me in which I had prolonged moments of doubt and uncertainty about myself both personally and professionally. I'm pleased to say that 2014 has been far more measured. I can honestly say I have been happy in all aspects of my life.

2. July marked the end of my first full year as a member of SLT. Part of this saw me organise three whole school inset days, which truly tested my creativity, resolve and resilience. Although I failed to accomplish everything I set out to do, I'm proud to have done better than just survived.

3. I wrote my first blog. Terrifying. Exhilarating. Slightly addictive.

4. I made a conscious effort to address my work / life balance. I prioritised friends and said yes to events. I feel like I won!

5. I reminded myself why I love my job by not just attending the encore of #SLTcamp but contributing. The weekend was fantastic for a multitude of reasons and was the start of lots of good things.

So my hopes for 2015...

1. To retain my positive outlook. I'm a naturally happy person but never want to take that for granted.

2. To continue blogging. I've enjoyed sticking my toes in the water, in 2015 I want to dive in.

3. Organise a teachmeet. It's about time I did.

4. Take the time to regularly lie on my back in the garden, in the middle of the night, and look at the stars.

5. Buy a gag. Metaphorically. I want to talk less and do more. I want to challenge myself to say yes to things and aim to try something new each month.

All in all, I'm excited about what next year will bring!
