Say Yes

This morning, while stuck in traffic, I was listening to BBC Radio 2 and Lauren Child was being interviewed.

She was asked, "How did you get your break?"

Her response resonated with me (and many other listeners I guess): "I'd always said no to things. It suddenly occurred to me that if you say yes to things, then you have that much more opportunity. If things go wrong 'cos you said yes, that's fine. If things go wrong 'cos you said no, then you're no where."

Brilliant!

Happy as a class teacher. Asked to cover head of year for a bit. Kept doing it. Assistant had job became available. Decided to apply. Got the job. Rest as they say...
