A snapshot of a year.....

#leadership

What a year! It kicked off with #pedagoohampshire16‍ where I met educators championing the #teacher5aday campaign. I listened to @ottleyoconnor @MartinRhea,  @posteachernet‍ ‍,  @vivg‍ ‍,  @vivienne‍ ‍ ‍, @kerry‍ ‍ and came away feeling inspired by the emphasis on values, positive psychology & wellbeing emerging as a dominant ideology in our profession. This set me off on a high. I was delighted when I saw Martyn Reah again at another gathering we were passionate about - evidence based research -  at The Chartered College of Teaching regional meet in Portsmouth

I was feeling motivated by all the game changers and thinkers in education I was meeting.

But there was more  to come. The WomenED national conference in Reading. Seeing the founding members stand up there and champion the WomenEd values and the mantra 'be 10% braver' ; 'be defined by your soul and not your role' and meeting the 200+ delegates  and regional leaders was nothing short of inspirational. It was not long before I signed up to the DFE offer of receiving a coach and I met @suew‍ . A  Values based Education advocate, ex head teacher and an example of wellbeing /values/outstanding teaching exemplified in one.  Having  Sue walking with me as I explore and develop my leadership voice/role  - ensuring they are aligned with my values - has been amazing. I also attended WomenEDSE  and met the powerhouse Claire Cuthbert and @naomiw‍  and journeyed for @OxfordshireWLIE.  Hearing speakers like @teachanshi‍ ;  @msbennybonsu‍ ; @jazampawfarr‍  share their stories reminds me of why I love to teach and why the 'glass ceiling' and gender pay gap is a social injustice. Hannah Wilson of Aureus School is an inspirational leader!!!! I have now been offered the opportunity to be a regional leader for WomenEdSE and really hope to provide a platform for many more women and #heforshe to come on board and help break down barriers ensuring fair representation  of women in leadership roles

It has also been an honour speaking alongside Dr Pooky-Knightsmith and @RachelWelch with the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust. Wow. Their output of information and support on mental health, for those working in schools, is both staggering and awesome.

This year also saw my first TES article published. Giving me the opportunity to share our schools journey enabled me to really promote that IT IS POSSIBLE to develop a proactive, pre-emptive approach to mental health and wellbeing in a school setting.  The response to the article is STILL being felt as people get in touch and want to come to visit the school. To date we have had over 100 visitors  who just want to see our wellbeing zone at work.

The year has been rounded off with hosting our 2nd teachmeet #MagnaMHTM17 and my first #wellbeingdgmeet. Meeting the host of  speakers and bloggers was joyous - twitter definitely can connect you with your tribe: they are my 24 hour INSPIRATIONS

My leadership journey is being enriched by those I meet and inspire me: Gratitude to you all.
